I challenge you…

Did you ever notice how the world is constantly in motion?

I know that is a common saying,

but have you ever sat,

Looked around and saw that literally everything is always moving?

            From the ocean

            To the wind

            From the stars

            To the sun

            From the rocks

To the ground they tumble on

            From our bodies

            To our souls

Sometimes I feel like the world is moving around me

Leaving me behind

Sometimes I feel like the world is moving in slow motion

And time is moving too fast.

What all of those feeling have in common is motion

Timing in my life always seems to be a problem

Creation is about movement- it is our whole lives, it is how we were created.

But here’s another question for you:

Why did God create a world that is literally spinning on an axis

When He himself tells us to be still?

From a first glance it seems unfair

Like God was setting us up to fail.

But then it occurred to me,

Maybe the whole reason why God created the world this particular way,

Was so that we had to turn to Him to find rest

Maybe it was because He wanted us to depend on Him for peace

Or maybe, it was that because

                        Outside of Him

Stillness, rest and peace do not exist.

So tonight I sit,

Asking God to sit here beside me

And give me rest. Not forever,

Because God wants us to move

He wants us to move for Him here on Earth

He wants us to be His vestals of light, and His love

But for right now, in this one moment

I sit with my God. I pause from my day to day activities and simply just sit

I listen and worship

And I talk to my Father.

I challenge you to sit,

            Wherever you feel God most.

For me its outside, but it could be In a very comfy chair next to a hot cup of coffee,

But I challenge you to take time away from your stress and activities. Changing the flow of motion in your life, and just spend time with God. It might feel weird and strange at first. But pray that God moves in your heart. Pray that He sits right next to you, the very presence of Him giving you rest. I challenge you to focus on God, ask Him to help you focus on Him and to want to spend time with Him.

It may seem silly to ask the God of the universe to take time away from making sure the world doesn’t stop spinning, just to sit with you and to come into your heart and the space that you are in. It may seem even selfish. But God wants you to ask Him to meet you where you are. God wants to come and invade your soul. And if you let Him, Jesus will walk right beside you, stay by your side all day long every day. Imagine it, really imagine it. Going grocery shopping, watching a soccer game, or crying in your car- Jesus is right there next to you. The beauty of God’s love is that we don’t even have to just imagine it- It really happens. If you let Him, Jesus will never leave your side again.

So pray that in this moment, you feel not alone, and that God comes and gives you rest. Stay with Him like this as long as you like. But I promise that if you do this, God will listen. It probably won’t last long (the peace), but for the time that you spend in His presence, God will give you rest. I promise you, you won’t regret it.
